Earthworks on Navestock Common seen by Stukely in 1759, comprise "mounds of earth and a ditch", adjacent to the Chifford and Ongar boundary heath(?) road from Ditchely's to Princes gate. According to the OS a key hole-shaped ditch is visible at the above NGR and is visible on AP's. <1> <3> in <1> <4> <5> Presumably the same site also as TQ59-034, 0000. OS plan card only in the SMR, shows Stukely's sketch. <6> |
