| Description |
A resistivity survey was carried out as an attempt to locate the town ditch, which was expected to cross the playing field, and to determine the position of the hospital which is shown on the field on a map drawn in 1592. To the west of the survey area there appears to be two ditches running parallel to each other, with a change of direction towards the southern end. Between the 2 ditches there is a high resistance anomaly running N-S which might be the remains of a series of narrow buildings, or possibly a wall with attached small buildings. At the north edge of the plot there some linear features which could possibly represent the foundations of a rectangular building, or just two parallel walls. These were not taken as conclusive evidence for any remains of the hospital. <1> |
