Description Contemporary records state, ‘Pillbox. On Seawall, Wick Farm, Nr. Sea End Boat House. Map ref. 406138.’ <1> This pillbox still survives, about 300 yards E of the crane of the boatbuilding yard. It can be seen from 1960 aerial photographs and 1973 1:2500 maps that it is a ‘through the seawall type’ facing both across the river and inland. However, with the widening of the seawall just the seaward end can now be seen, approx 15 feet long. Each of the visible faces has a loophole, blocked up sometime in the past but now mostly broken open again. The top of the entrance, now under the seawall, is visible along the E face. Two benches have been bolted to the roof to provide seated viewing across the river. Two photos of site. <2>
