Famous People

Boudicca (or Bodicea) was a queen of the Iceni tribe, an Iron Age people who lived in Norfolk. When the Romans came, they treated the Iceni very badly, and had Boudicca publicly whipped. In AD 60 she led a rebellion, which included the Iceni and other tribes, and they looted and burnt to the ground the Roman towns of Colchester, St. Albans and London. The rebellion was finally defeated by the Romans in a pitched battle in AD 61 and Boudicca killed herself by taking poison.
